How Does 11 Month Car Hire Work With Mycardirect?
Traditionally if you want a new car for the best part of a year, your best option has been leasing one. Car leasing is great, but it comes with high upfront payments, a fixed commitment, and punitive terms if you want to end the lease early. Not so with mycardirect. We offer small upfront deposits, and the option to cancel or extend from month to month. So if you return the car after 10 months, you’ll just revert to the 10 month pricing.

Our cars are priced by the month, which means we can offer better rates than traditional car hire companies who charge by the day. We also use regulated agreements, not 84 day hire agreements, so there’s no chance you’ll need to give the car back early. And, if you need the car for more than the 11 months you initially signed up for, you just need to sign an extension contract and you’re good to go.
Our monthly prices do not include insurance, but you can add rental insurance for £7 per day. We appreciate that this isn’t the best option for most people over the long term, which is why we also allow you to source your own insurance. We charge a one off £275 joining fee which makes you a member for life, and a fully refundable damage deposit returned at the end of the hire (typically £500). I'm Coming To The UK For Less Than A Year And Want To Rent A Car.
If you’re relocating to the UK for less than a year, then mycardirect are here to help you get moving once you’ve touched down. You don’t need to be a UK citizen, UK resident or hold a UK driving licence to start a long term rental with mycardirect. There are however a few things you should know to make the process as straightforward as possible.
To use our long term (monthly) rental service we require slightly more information about yourself than we would need for a daily rental. We will need some proof of address, proof of affordability, and UK bank details, all of which you can securely upload through our online platform. You can find out more here. Our Hemel Hempstead branch is just a 45 minute taxi ride from Heathrow and Luton airports, for easy access when you arrive and depart.
Can I Rent For 1 Year Anywhere In The UK?
When you need to rent a car for a short period it’s always best to go local, but when you want a car for the long term it’s time to branch out. We offer delivery and collection anywhere in the mainland UK. Unfortunately we do not offer our monthly service in Northern Ireland.
Our delivery fee varies depending on distance from the depot, and costs £90 per hour it takes to reach your destination. Payment is agreed and taken prior to delivery. You can of course always collect your vehicle from our branches in Hemel Hempstead and Birmingham free of charge.
When we hand over your vehicle our expert team will inspect the car or van for any imperfections, and demonstrate the features of the vehicle. At mycardirect we try to ensure your rental goes as smoothly as possible, but when you’re out on the road for almost a year, things can go wrong. That’s why all of our rentals come with roadside assistance, maintenance and servicing included.
If you’re hiring for nearly a year your car may need some maintenance or a fresh pair of tyres. In the event that it does, the cost of all maintenance (excluding accidental damage) is included in your monthly price. We even include replacements for worn out tyres, but not punctures which are considered accidental damage. You can find out everything we include here.
